My third day of phase one is over!

I m not doing well. I think I have wrong understanding of SBD. I m having a total of 900-1000 cal a day. which is a little low (I used to have 1500 when I m dieting) and I m always feeling hungry but dont know what to eat.

For breakfast I had 2 hard boiled eggs and lettuce salad.

Skipped snack had early lunch instead

For lunch I had grilled chicken breast and lettuce salad with very little light dressing

for snack had one skim mozarella stick and one small V8 drink

I was supposed to go to the gym after work so I had some 15 roasted almonds to get energized but in vain. so I had some more and then some more and still no difference. I could not move from my desk. Did not go to gym instead went home straight to bed. I just had one more cheese stick and that's it for the day.

is there anything wrong with what I m eating? why am I feeling so tired and dizzy? Is it the lack of Carbohydrates? Do you have to take some vitamins when you are on the SBD??

And who says that Bread is bad carb?? that's not very smart IMHO. All people from all over the world eat bread historically for a reason. I cant see what is so bad about bread!!

Hi there,

The idea of SBD is to eat good carbs. Not all breads are bad. Not all carbs are bad. I hate to tell someone to read the book, but have you read the book or completed your research on the SBD? Whole grain and lower GI foods are great to eat on SBD. We don't count carbs on SBD. The idea for the first two weeks is to "detox" and get rid of your cravings, work out the sugars, and move your body into phase two where you reintroduce things into your diet. If you are not reintroducing when you reach phase two, regardless of when you decide to go to phase 2, you are doing yourself more harm than good. Here is a typical phase 1 day for me. I've been eating SBD style for 4 months now, exercising, and doing well.

Breakfast

1 hard boiled egg

1 serving turkey sausage

Snack (It is not a good idea to skip snacks on phase 1)

15 cashews

Lunch

Hot Black Bean and Salsa Lean Beef (GREAT recipe for the crock pot someone posted here)

1 cup brocolli

1 serving sugar free jello

Snack

Motzy stick

Dinner

Hamburger patty

1 oz cheddar

1 small pickle

1 cup green beans

1 cup greens

Snack

German Chocolate Ricotta Freeze

Water

224 oz water (yeah, it is alot, but I am also starting to train for a 15K Run)

Exercise

30 minutes running and walking

Ab and floor exercise

Vitamins

Multi vitamin

C

Green Tea

Biotin

Prenatal (for the hair and nail benny)

So you see, I eat when i am hungry and until i am full.

From reading your post, it doesn't look like you had your morning snack or ate dinner? are you drinking plenty of water? Some people have had a hard time on Phase 1 if they are very active. You can move into phase 2 if the 1st phase isn't treating you well. The results might not be as swift, but you'll get there :) I know it's alot, and I was terribly frustrated in the first week. You'll get the hang of it. Take care.

I have to agree with the previous posters "menu". Your food consumption for the day was ok, not great. You really need to eat more...A LOT more than what you had today. Try adding the meat to bfast, make sure you have your midmorning snack, your lunch was great, afternoon snack, fine (I don't count nuts), and then what happened at dinner???? A cheesestick? That is not enough. Try making yourself a nice big dinner to get you through these first hard days. Lots and lots of steamed veggies, cauliflower mashed "potatoes", a nice big steak or your favorite meat, etc. Then there is also the after dinner dessert you get too that you missed!

I too take a multivitamin and an extra Vitamin C tablet (cold season). These are merely personal preferances but while on phase 1 I would recommend them.

I hope I helped you a bit! There is some detoxing involved in phase 1 but you should not feel as bad as you described. So EAT (the good stuff) and be happy and soon you will have your bread!

I agree that white bread is not the best. Actually I cant remember the last time I had it. I always eat multigrain or Whole wheat. I m planning to lose 5 pounds on this diet. Mostly fat from my thighs so I m going to be careful about consuming too much fat. I will try to include a little of the good ones in my food though. I also have to keep my energy level up kuz I obviously need to work those thighs to get rid of the extra fat. so will give it a try for one more week and see how things go.

Thank you guys for the help

Do try and work in the good fats, you will be surprised at the amount of weight you will loose like Susan said.

I think I read the part that Sourdough bread is GOOD, which is great cuz I love sourdough bread! Sourdough bread is good because it got high pH (high acidic)! So I guess it means that acidic burns carbs, is that right? hahaha

Sourdough is ok on P2, it's one of the better "whiter" breads.

Hi Mel,

I dont know about you but my problem with thighs fat started when I had a knee injury and stoped working out completely. Before that I used to run for 40 minutes daily, I looked and felt great for a long time and was eating all sorts of chocolate and Ice-cream without any weight problems. Now after my injury which took 3 months to recover (not fully though) I noticed that my thighs look a little bigger but much flabbier and softer. so I guess all the tissues that were muscles once have been transformed into fat. I have something called fat pockets. to get rid of them I m doing Yoga three times a week. I run on treadmills twice a week (for 20-30 min) and sometimes I do a workout designed especially for the butt and thigh area. I think this workout is the best among the three strategies to eliminate my thighs fat. The reason is that after I do it, I feel my butt and my back thighs sore the next day. Something that I dont feel after running for 10 hours even. so I m going to do it more often. Hopefully twice a week. You can find it in this issue of Fitness magazine. They have a crappy diet dont get close to it. It shows McDonald meal on one of the suggestion!! but the butt workout is great you should try it.

good luck,

Jul
