I can't say for sure how big the chili was, but it filled up one tupperware thing. also, i don't like v8 or tomato juice, is there something that you can suggest that i can substitute?

how big should snacks be?

and no, yesterday, i wasn't hungry at all. but i had all that i listed before, plus, dinner i had a burger(no bun) and a salad.

thanks for your help....i guess i'm confused by what the minimum amount of food you should be eating.

You should eat until you feel satisified, but no more.

You eat until you are full. Here was my Phase 1 menu from yesterday. I am back on a phase 1 for two weeks after the holidays. I started phase 1 on 9/8/03 and at 12/19/03 I was down 28 lbs with lots of water and exercise :)

OK... yesterday...

Breakfast

Boiled egg

Serving of Turkey Sausage

Snack

Cashews ( I put a few in a little snack bag and take it to work)

Lunch

Hot Black Bean Salsa Beef

1 Cup Collard Greens

Cup SF Jello

Snack

Motzy Stick

Dinner

Lean Hamburger Patty

1/2 Cup Homeade HOT salsa

1 oz cheddar

1 Cup Lima Beans

1/2 Cucumber

Snack

Chocolate Cookie DOugh Ricotta

240 OZ water and Pilates and stretching.

Ok.... Taking a look at your menu....

Try adding 2 cups of veggies in your meals. Did you chili have lean meat? Did the chili have beans? Beans are GREAT source of fiber and good carbs and are essential in phase 1 especially if you are exercising. Make sure to have your desserts on phase 1 and don't forget your snacks. IMO, the cheese round is fine. Snacks don't need to be huge, just something to get you through times when blood sugar might be getting low. Celery and peanut butter is great! Hummus and cucumbers are great too! I wish I could still eat hummus, but I am allergic to chick peas... found this out by mistake! lol.

OK? YOu're doing fine and dandy. Less is not more eating the SBD style. Veggies are your source of good carbs on phase 1. keep on keepin on!

thanks for all your input-that really helps. i know i really need to add exercising to all this - how much are you exercising a day? and i'll add more veggies to my diet. my chili did have beans and it was actually top sirloin instead of ground beef.

also, what is your chocolate cookie dough ricotta recipe - and is there such a thing as too much of this. doesn't the book limit you to 1/2 cup or something? i love these ricotta cheese recipes and i'm afraid of having too much of it.

thanks!

I'm exactly the same with a lot of the same questions. I started this the first time about 5 weeks ago and was ok there for a little bit but didn't lose much.... then the holidays I'm exactly the same with a lot of the same questions. I started this the first time about 5 weeks ago and was ok there for a little bit but didn't lose much.... then the holidays came and NYE and the weekend after I was terrible. So now I started all over with everyone's suggestions and cut out the cashews....I was definitely eating too many. I'm fine with eggs in the morning... I can always eat an egg.... but at this point I'm sick of making salads and don't eat red meat or pork. I guess shrimp and shellfish but what else are you supposed to make with shrimp... I can't make another stir fry either.

I'm so sorry I'm sounding so ornery I think I'm tired and would love a piece of pie that's in the frig ;o)

thanks for listening....

I use davinci's syrups in mine.

I use a 1/4 cup, 1 pack of splenda, 1 tbls of any flavored syrup (I have cookie dough, raspberry, German Chocolate, and vanilla), and a tbls of cocoa powder.

Then, food process it. I like to freeze mine a little bit now. makes a neat frosty thing.
