Phase I not recommended for Athlete?!

I just read on the web that the Doctor who designed SBD does not recommend phase I for Athletes. I guess this answers my lack of energy and inability to get half my regular performance in the Gym. I m done with my 5th day of Phase I and will check my weight end of the week. However I am curious if anyone knows the breakdown of carbohydrates, protein, and fat in a typical Phase I day.

I know that an active adult needs about 55%- 65% carbohydrates in their daily diet, about 15%-20% protein, and 10%-15% fat.

I doubt this can ever be achieved through SBD phase I. so I guess the point is to have very little workout or none while on phase I. Since phase I is only two weeks that is not a problem for most people.

That is amazing, I tried running for 1 minute intervals this fall and I got severe shin splints. So I am never going to be a runner. I envy people who can.

Hi Mel,

I live in Big Lake. About 40 miles NW of Mpls/St Paul-between Elk River and Monticello. We moved here from New Hope 12 years ago. Where are you at?

My ultimate goal is to run a plain old marathon:) I've done a half marathon but want to wait before training for anything longer. How do you find time to get in the training? I found my training increased when reducing carbs. It made my body more efficient at burning fat for energy. It's like you can feel it when the glucose supply is out and the fat burners are in full swing. I so look forward to that feeling!

Congrats to you!

Congratulations on your 1/2! That's great; and that you want to do a whole marathon; that's even better!

Well, time? I work full-time, I'm going to school, I have a hubby and 2 boys, but I MAKE time. I put my work out high up on my priority list. I'm a better person, mom, student, employee, etc. when I'm taking care of myself.

I usually run long on weekend, and early. I'm up and out of the house before 6:30 AM, back home about as everyone is waking. Many times the boys have basketball games at 9, so I get up earlier or run later. I don't miss their sports or any of their school events. I work in the school district so I get off of work early - 3:30 - and usually run after work. It fits in, really.

Good luck, let me know how your training is going!
