New to board & South Beach

Hi everyone!
I made a commitment to myself at the New Year to take better care of myself -- along with a little push from my doctor too. So, South Beach, here I come!
I bought the book and want to read it before I get fully started on the eating plan, but wanted to know if there was anything I could do now to get started.
I look forward to participating on the board, meeting new South Beach buddies, and creating a brand new me!!

I made the very same commitments that you have made (as well as having a "push" from doctor)! I have done Weight Watchers (which I liked) but this is so much easier and I feel like I am really changing my way of eating forever - not until I just lose what I want to lose.
Here's what I have found - the Mini Veggie Quiche recipe in the book? AWESOME. I love it. Try the Ricotta Creme desserts...I really don't like Ricotta, but it's not soooo bad - especially if you somewhat like it now.
At this point in the plan, I really don't miss the "bad carbs" and I was truly addicted to potatoes and rice. Every meal (lunch and dinner) was accompanied by potatoes or rice. I ate fast food AT LEAST 4-5 times per week. Early on in the plan, I ate 1 bite of my husband's mashed potatoes - just for the taste - and that was enough for me.
YOU CAN DO IT - and this board will really help you. You'll find lots of answers and a ton of support.
