Did we ever get the wheat issue resolved? I wanted to know a few reasons:

1) I found a brownie recipe that I'd like to try (Can use the whole wheat flour for baking?)

2) Costco sells whole wheat English muffins that I'd like to try when I get to P2

3) My husband is bugging me to make a Quiche (his fav dish) with a crust. He is not fond of the quiche cups. Anyone got a "non-nut" crust recipe?

I also saw that Klondike has Ice cream bars that are made with Splenda, called Carb solutions. Problem: Fudge bar =100 calories & Ice Cream bar = 130 calories. Bummer! I bet their good being from Klondike and all!

Pita Chips...can we have them in P2? What do I need to look for in the ingredients? Or what? Just looking ahead for a chip substitution.

Also, what's the scoop on SF candies? Costco also had a variety pack of their SF candies but I was afraid to buy them...don't know the deal. Can you tell I love Costco? Just got the membership for Christmas from mom. They don't have a ton of SBD friendly stuff but it's good to stock up on things like string cheese, veggies and meat.

Dang, I think I had another ? but I can't remember now....I'll remember as soon as I press "post message".

Anyway, TIA for any answers to this.

** Nope, but since Dr. A created South Beach, I think we should follow his guidelines.

Unfortuneately I am betting these are made using the wrong wheat flour.

Susan,

Your pies sound incredible!! (I live for Reddi Wip Light!)

Jessi, (nice name!)

I do not think that the low carb ice creams are the way to go in P1. In P2 they are still questionable. Many have high sugar alcohols and still have some sugars... I would bet you would be better with one of Susan's pie recipes. How about ff sf pudding? Make your own frozen pudding pops. And yes, I also agree with Dr. A, a sugar craving really is best satisfied with a few pieces of dark choc chips. (Giradelli makes a good dark version.) Though it is almost TOM here, and I am going out of my MIND... I want everything under the sun. It's a good thing we have nothing in the house... except for 3 bags of unopened Halloween candy! Really, it's true! But I can not break that seal, if I do it will be the end of me! I can be good! I can!

Jessi - Just want to comment on Costco. I love that place - I can wander around in there for hours. Some of my favorite products are their frozen veggies, especially the green beans, peas, and broccoli florets that come in big 5-lb bags that are packaged by a company called Tropicland. I almost couldn't find them the second time I went to buy them - Costco believes in moving things around (so you'll happen upon and buy new things) and they had moved the veggies to a different freezer row. Can you spell panic?

Check the Costco SF candies to see what they're sweetened with. Russell Stover low-carb chocolates are sweetened with something called maltilol, I think (mine are at work so I can't read the label). The serving size says 5 pieces, but 5 pieces with that sweetener does a very uncomfortable number on my tummy. 3 pieces seems to suit me better.

Enjoy your membership! With a family of four, it's a money saver.

Costco...yeah! I was in there one night after a stressful day at work. I saw some friends there and commented that I was using Costco as my gym...just walk around...walk around...stop and look...walk around!!

Oh, those samples when you go during the day, though! And the pizza from the snack bar...enough to ruin an SBD WOE day...

Yes you can use WHOLE WHEAT flour that you would usually find in the health food section of the store.
