Hi!

I was under the impression that using 93% lean ground beef is ok. I haven't had it yet on SBD (i'm only on day 2), but I was planning on it. Anyway, I have been noticing that many of you have been using ground turkey instead. Can someone clarify this for me?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Anna,

I use Extra Lean 4% ground sirloin, and ground buffalo a lot of the time. You can always drain any extra fat that comes off the meat to make it leaner. I personally don't like ground turkey that much.

Thanks Susan and Jamah for your response! I try to drain fat every time I use ground beef. I think I'll stick with that. :)

Hi Anna, there are many delicious kinds of meats on the SBD.

Hi Maggie!

I've read the book and faithfully read posts as much as I can. I thought I could have lean ground beef, according to food to enjoy lists and so on. But after seeing so many people substitute turkey ground in recipes and thinking (maybe inaccurately) that they're not doing that because they think turkey tastes better, I thought I'd ask just in case I'm missing something. :) You and all the other wonderful ladies who responded reassured me that what I had originally thought is right!

Yay! Go ground beef!

Anna, who is no longer confused :)
