lose weight even with little to lose?

I've only got 10 pounds to lose. I gained 5 on a vacation last August and again 5 more during the Christmas season. Will the weight come off very slowly? What do I have to expect going on this? I already eat healthy, and good carbs but I eat a bunch of them is the problem. I also love baked potatoes! And I snack and snack and snack in the evening which I know has kept me from getting the weight off. Thanks for your help! :-)

On another program, the weight probably would come off very slowly. But on SBD, IF you can sacrifice the starchy carbs that you love for the full 2 weeks of Phase I, you might be one of the ones who loses it all in those 14 days.

Your challenge sounds like it might come after you drop the pounds - and that challenge is not going back to splurging on the starchy, sugary, simple carbs that you love. Hopefully, in Phase I, you'll get past the craving for them and teach yourself to substitute complex carbohydrates and other healthier, smarter choices.

Personally, I think you're up to it. Keep an eye on this board and go for it - you'll find lots of support here. Besides, you have nothing to lose except 10 pounds and everything to gain as far as developing better eating habits.

Hi Rachel,

Welcome!

You won't see the 13 pound weight loss in phase one like some people do, but you will probably drop about 3 pounds. If you stick with this WOE, all the weight will come off in time.

Do you have the book, or any meal plans?

I recommend trying Phase one, it is pretty easy to follow, you may want to just jump on, and see how you feel. I noticed that when I eat the foods to enjoy, I don't have the cravings to snack late night. Which could very well be the problem. Snacking isn't bad, as long as you're smart about the snacks.

Also be sure to throw in 20 mins of exercise daily!

Take Care

Thank you all for your responses! I am so glad to know the realities of this before I start, and yes that sounds discouraging already. But I do have the book, I'm letting it all sink in and I think that if I can find recipes that I love I'll have no problem. I know I will have a problem with phase 2 or 3 because if I've ever let just a little in it's a lot, overboard! Almost like an alcoholic, can't have one sip or your on the bottle again. But I do have trigger foods so I'll just have to avoid those. Plus I have gone overboard on almonds and pistacios before. OK, just preparing here mentally. ;-) Thanks for your support! ;-)

That's what I thought too. I lost 10 lbs. and then maintained for a couple weeks. Then I went on to phase 2 and am now losing again. So don't worry. Some wise South Beacher's put me straight.

Good luck!

Rachel,

I'm so glad you asked this question. I also want to lose 10 pounds, and it's nice to know there's someone starting the diet about when I am, with the same goal that I have.

Hey Mel,

Do you think maybe we should have a group for people who want to lose 20 or less instead of the 30's. Seems it would be more traveled that way. That way also who all who's goals are what.

What do you think?
