I need to take control of me.

Hi. I'm Norma. I've actually had some experience with SBD. I tried it over the summer and really liked the results. I did it for about 2 weeks. I did lose 10 lbs and those sugar cravings really do go away. But then I had to plan my meals and try to lose weight and actually use my brain, so I gave up. To any other newbies here, it's not a hard program. But you can't be lazy and lose weight at the same time.

So I'm back. Ready to take control of my life. I need to lose about 50 or so lbs and I just can't stop eating cookies and cake and plain old crap!

Ok, sorry. I vented there a bit. Anyway, I don't know when I'll start. I need to go shopping. I'll probably try to start tomorrow or over the weekend.

I look forward to getting to know all of you during this journey. I'll need all the support I can get.

Oh, and I did have one question. Is there a site that I can find out Glycemic indexes of food? I think that would be a valuable tool.

Thanks! Norma

Hi Norma --- and welcome.

I am not sure of any sites ---- I know they are out there --- the way I find everything is to go to www.google.com and type in whatever it is I am looking for and they give great lists of sites.

Planning is key to this WOE ----I find the simpler I keep it, the better off I am, like planning things like tuna/chicken/egg salad for lunch or a homemade soup that I made on Sunday and have leftovers for lunches and doing stuff like that so I am not starving and having to think about what I want to cook.

I have about 50 lbs. myself I am still looking to lose :0

Sorry, not sure what happened with my font there -- it was all the SAME before I posted it and I can't fix it.

Spaghetti and some other pastas are low GI? That is *very* surprising!

Wow! Thank you all so much for the welcome and support. I feel better already. I woke up this morning thinking I was kidding myself and that of course I couldn't do this. But I'm feeling much better now. Even if I don't have everything in my house I'll need, I think I can still make smart food choices if I choose to.

Thank you also for the GI list. That helps. I have the book, it's collecting dust! LOL Better get it out and read it.
