Scale Question

I bought a digital scale about 3 months ago. Up until now I never thought anything was wrong with it, until I did a test. I weighed myself and got one number, then I weighed myself again 10 minutes later not eating anything or changing clothes and the weight it reads is completely different! I then bought a spring scale today, and the weight on the spring scale stays constant and is about 6 pounds less than what the digital scale reads. So my question is, which is more reliable: the spring scale or the digital scale?

I can relate to your problem...I bought a digital scale because I thought it would be more accurate in that you can see the decimal as well. However, my digital scale (was expensive by the way) does play games with me. Sometimes it gives a different number within a few minutes!!! I am totally considering going back to the "old fashioned" scale, because it is very frustrating to not know exactly how much, if any, I've lost.

I get CR here at work but haven't seen anything on scales for a long time and I don't remember if I've ever seen anything!

Okay I was hoping someone would know the answer, LOL. I guess I'll have to break down and buy a really expensive scale. But if anyone knows... my digital scale is a HoMedics , and I'm not sure if it is accurate or not.

Oh No! I don't trust anything made by Homedics : )!

I have a regular spring scale and feel it is most accurate. I was thinking about getting a digital scale just because they look nicer and are so slim and elegant. However, now that I see the trouble you guys (ladies) are having with these scales, I'm going to stick with my old reliable spring action scale. It stays accurate. I only flutuate normally at different times of the day or week or month.....depending on what is going on with my body....cycle ...etc... which is totally NORMAL ladies. I can go up and down 3 pounds within a week. I think it is just hormonal....or gravitational pull....perhaps it affects you at different time. The earth is always spinning you know??? LAUGH!!! So if you step on the scale 10 minutes ago and get on again then the earth has moved a little bit...LOL! So there is your explanation for the weight fluctuation.

Anyway, I purchased mine at Walmart about a year ago right after I had my son. It is made by something with "Physician" in the name. I can't think of it right now. It is pretty good and only acts up when my son (unknowingly) goes into the bathroom to play with the little knob and I hop on and notice that I'm about 250!!! LAUGH!!!! OH GOD!! But that is okay because I am not near and never have been near 250...but it did cause a mild shake in my body to see that number at my feet....LOL!

Doing great on the SBD! 139/won't weigh in until end of P1 but feel great/129-135 range!

Alright, so I was talking online via messenger to my Fiance' ( Hes stationed in Iraq) and was talking about my scale problem. He told me to take some of my 2 pound weights and place them on my scales and see if the scales were accurate because obviously the weights would not change. I put 2- 2 pound weights on my HoMedics Digital scale, it read 5 pounds. I put the weights on my spring scale, it read the correct 4 pounds. I did this 3 more times and got the readings on the digital scale of: 5, 4.5 and finally 4 pounds. Meanwhile my spring scale read 4 pounds straight across.

My conclusion is, my $30 HoMedics digital scale is a piece of junk. On a brighter note I found that I have lost more weight than I thought thanks to my spring scale that I bought Tuesday.

Bonnie, if it's just one pound on or off, then I think it's still a pretty good scale.
