I'm currently following WW, but I am considering the SBD (no more calculations). However the alcohol restrictions are keeping me from switching.
I don't drink everyday, but I usually meet friends for drinks about once a week. This is something I enjoy and have no intentions of giving up. Can you be successful on SBD and still have a drink or two once a week? What about P1?
I'm not a big wine drinker, I prefer light beer and liquor. In fact I really enjoy the new Michelob (sp?) low carb beer.

You only have to give up your drinking for two weeks.

I didn't stop drinking while in phase one, mainly because I had made the decision that the SBD was a lifestyle change for me, not a quick fix diet. I LOVE going out with my friends Friday or Saturday night and having a few cocktails. I did however change what I drink. I stick with red wine, dirty martinis, and very occasionally beer. I am sure to drink plenty of water when I drink as well as have a very nutritious meal beforehand.
I didn't lose as much weight as I probably could have on phase one, but that was my choice. I did however lose all the weight in the long run, because I stuck to the plan. I have been following the SBD since August 2003.
So in my opinion you may have a few drinks over the weekend, just don't go over board. Be smart about what you drink, how much you drink, and be really good the few days after. Just be aware that you may not have a huge weight loss during phase one like some people.
I also try to get in 20 minutes of exercise everyday.
