Coincidence... I think not!

Hi everyone,

I picked up the latest issue of Newsweek today and read their article on low-carb diets. Of course the article talked pretty much exclusively about Atkins. (On a sidenote, I hate how SBD is pigeonholed with Atkins because I don't think Atkins is particularly healthy, while I feel that SBD is healthy.) The doctors that wrote the article talked about how Atkins could be modified to be healthy. It was basically SBD in a nutshell. I am considering writing the editor a letter about how these guys basically ripped off Dr. Agatson without making a single mention of him or SBD!

Also, I have a question for everyone. Before starting SBD, I absolutely LOVED eating. I would eat day and night if I could. I have been on SBD for almost three months now, and I find that while I eat when I am hungry, I don't enjoy eating as much as I did. Don't get me wrong, I still like to eat, but I find that I don't feel the need to eat constantly, and when I am about to go to bed and have the desire to eat (not out of hunger but out of boredom), it is so easy to talk myself out of it. Like I will be watching TV or something and want something to eat even though I just ate, but I easily tell myself why eat if I'm not hungry and then just don't. I'm not complaining, but has anyone else had this happen as well? Considering my lifelong addiction to food, I find this very interesting.

Thanks for your support!

I agree! I used to always think about sweets and snacks, and I would spend a lot of energy thinking about eating, not necessarily food but SNACKS!! Now I don't hardly ever think about eating. I just eat in order to keep my blood sugar level even, not because I'm hungry necessarily.

I've only been doing this for 2 weeks (almost) but I have the same reaction...I enjoy eating the foods that I'm eating but it's not the same as eating something like...a hot fudge sundae. But I don't really mind because I feel I'm so much more in control of my eating. I don't have to spend all my energy holding back from eating something sweet like cookies, and then losing it and eating the whole box. I think there was something in the SBD book where Dr. A says you'll eat well but maybe a little less enthusiasticaly than before...I think that's I how feel.
