3 lbs. in six days is really good. It depends on how much you have to lose and how your body response. Are you eating 3 meals a day and 2 snacks. Also include the good fats to your daily eating. I didn't realize how important that was.
Thanks ya'll! I exercise every morning and do eat 3 meals/2 snacks. I only have 20 pounds to lose, I'm just so impatient! But guess what, I woke up this morning and lost another pound, making 4, and I ate at my favorite restaurant last night around 10 pm! So, I guess I'm doing well, 4 more next week and it will be 8!
That's great...see you'll be that much closer! I had 15-20 to lose when I started. After phase 1 I maintained a weight loss. Since I have gone to phase 2 I have continued to lose. Hang in there. It's worth it. After your first two weeks it will be much easier.
We need to be more patient with ourselves. Three pounds in a week may not be the "8-15" Dr. Agatston claims in his book, but it is perfectly sound weight loss.
Dr. Agatston doesn't address this in his book, but remember: a weight loss of more than three pounds in one week is RARELY ONLY a loss of body fat. Often it is a loss of water, or even muscle. The American Dietetic Association doesn't recommend a weight loss of more than 1-2 pounds per week. The American Heart Association follows that same guideline. Rapid weight loss puts a strain on every system in the body. If you are in phase 1 (as I am), your body may be in a "state of crisis." You may think this silly, but this is why all diets say "consult your physician" before starting.
Your three pounds is more than perfect. Weight loss that is slower going is more likely to stay off. Here is a link from the ADA:

I am a registered nurse with a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics, so this is a topic dear to my heart. I'm still following SBD, just doing it carefully.
