Lurker here with a question about hrt...

Hi guys! I have been lurking for quite a while and am finishing Phase 1 tomorrow. Yeah! I am very excited about having oatmeal, rye bread and apples - in moderation, of course. I have lost a total of 5 lbs, but I do fluctuate. I only need to lose about 10-12 lbs total (all around waist, hips and butt).

This is what I need some opinions about and thought you all could help. I am 37 and had a complete hysterectomy last summer. So, of course, my body has changed shape some and everything has settled in the middle. Yuck!!! Anyway, I was on the lowest dose of hrt and doing fine, but added some weight. I decided to go the natural way and went off the hrt and replaced them with lots of other vitamins/supplements. They are not working as well and I really think I need to go back on the hrt. I need sleep! But, one of the side effects is weight gain and I wonder if the weight came off easy because I wasn't taking the hrt. I really like this WOE and am happy with the results. (My dh started the Atkins last Oct and has done well, but I am slowly changing him over to this WOE. I ahve done a lot of reading on this and still am, and I think this WOE is much better, especially for his high cholesteral). I am nervous about going back on the hrt and the weight going back up. I just need to reshape my middle - I am exercising, but it hasn't helped much. I never had weight problems until all of this. Can you please give me your advise on what you think or has anyone else dealt with this problem? Thank you so much!

(Height is about 5.5! 128.5/123.5(yesterday)/118? - Just want to get back into my size 6 clothes)

Thank you so much Susan! It's Premarin and I take the lowest dose - .3mg.

Thanks again!

P.S. - this board moves so fast, it's hard to keep up. LOL!!

If you want to check back with your post, change the "show me" thing to the right (it's right before the posts start appearing) to "I've recently seen"... if that doesn't work type in a word you know you used in your post (for you the name of your medicine) into the "search" box at the top left of the board.

Thanks for all of you help Susan! I plugged in hrt, menopause and hormones and found some older messages about this subject. It seems like this is still possible, it just might take me longer. I am very comfortable with the foods. I have a little trouble getting down the V-8 every morning, but I still do it. LOL!

I have tried not taking the hrt and just dealing with it, but that didn't work. Believe it or not, my hot flashes were almost continuous throughout the day. And now with the supplements, at about this time of day, I start to feel like I am going to crawl out of my skin. It is such a weid feeling. And please don't touch me! LOL!!! My poor dh! At least we can laugh about it, even though I may be crying at the time and not know why.

Thanks again! Maybe I will hear from some others who are going through this lovely phase of life.

Glad to hea I'm not the only one dealing with hot flashes. I take a low dose anti-depressant, Effexor 75 mg and the hot flashes have almost disappeared. I cannot take hrt as I am in chemo induced menopause after breast cancer.

Susan, is there any info on the SD site about Tamoxifen? Some women on my breast cancer site claim losing weight while on it is just about impossible. So far on Phase 1 I am hoping for a 5 pound loss to get me started. At my oncologist appointment on Monday I was the same weight I was at my September visit, which I feel I probably have lost some since starting SB, since I know I was not eating right from Halloween through Christmas.

Thanks for the info

Jill
