My mom sent me an ICQ this morning and thought she needed a new "diet" because WW wasnt working for her. She has lost weight but she cant seem to beat her cravings and keep her fingers out of the cookie bowl. She thinks she is addicted to carbs...who isnt?!?! Anyhow, we started talking about the various programs out there and I mentioned SBD to her since I have heard great things about it. She said that her doctor had mentioned it last year and she didnt have a problem with her doing it but her doc said she also didnt know that much about it since it was still kinda new. So I started looking around at some of the various SBD sites and reading some articles and I have a few questions.
Am I correct that you guys dont count anything and just watch what you are eating? Like I know that you cant eat certain foods on the first phase and then the next stages you can slowly start adding certain foods back in (like oranges and apples). But you dont count ANYTHING and just encourage healthier choices, lower fat foods/good fats and the good carbs? Are there limits on certain things? If she messes up does she have to restart from step one?
I have to admit I dont know much about the SBD and I dont personally plan to do it, but I would like to know the specifics so that me and mom can talk about it. She is thinking about getting the book to read which I encouraged her to do. I will probably read it as well just for the knowledge. Anyhow, any information you can offer would be greatly appreciated =) I am always concerned about my mom's health and I want to understand the program more. She could stand to lose about 25-30 pounds or more, but I would rather just make sure that she is leading a healthier lifestyle so we are always talking about this type of thing =) She was the one who sparked an interest in my own health, so of course I try to support her as well.
