I know it is silly of me to post such an insignificant event but to me it is a huge leap in getting out.
I knew that it would be tough but I didn't back down.
That's awesome that you're moving forward despite the big baby's fits.
"OMG, I got engaged, the world will never be the same!...."

I really enjoyed reading your post and I am so glad you went right ahead with your plans to do those home improvements - especially while he made a complete horse's patoot out of himself!
Keep up the great progress!
Hi there, i was reading your thread and thought I would give you my own "Home Improvements with an Alcoholic" story.
We bought a very big, but older home. Everything pretty well original from the 70's, right down to purple toilets, horrible red counter in the kitchen (they actually used red bicycle reflector tape on the nicks!). You name it (shag carpet), we have it.
Well, H thought he could start on home improvements. Only thing is, he has to be "primed" first, before he could "prime" the walls. Well needless to say, he's installed taps that don't work correctly, painting job half done and never finished. Light fixtures still in their boxes, never put up.
Well the last straw to me, was "The Purple Bathroom". This was the bathroom he used since we moved in. It was quickly falling down, tiles coming off, shower running all the time etc. Well for the last few years, he's been saying he was going to reno that room, but he didn't want to pay for someone else to do it. Well this went on for about 3 years, til finally the bathroom was in such disgusting shape, we put police tape outside the door "DO NOT ENTER". I kid you not.
Well finally just the end of October, I gave him an ultimatim. He had asked me what I wanted for Xmas. I said "I want that bathroom done". He said he would start on it. I told him "I will give you ONE week to get started, and if you do not, I am hiring someone".
Well needless to say, it never got started. And I hired a contractor who was going to come every evening (because he works days at another job). So this guy came in night after night, starting the beginning of November, tore everything out, rebuilt all the wood, tiled the floors, painted, installed the new shower and toilet and sink and did everything right down to the plugs. He even put the new light fixtures in our pool table room which I had bought over a year ago and H never put up.
Well
Way to go with the floors!! I bet you feel better with that out of the way.
