Firstly, it doesn't sound like your Moms therapist is someone who specializes in alcoholism or addiction. The only way a person will stop drinking or using, is when they have hit their "bottom", when they have had enough, and for whatever reason want to stop. Maybe your Mom's leaving will be a catalyst in his seeking help, but, there are no guarantees of that.


Alcoholism affects the entire family. The spouses and children need help too.They need help to understand and process their feelings. It sounds like your Mom has probably suffering from alot of things right now. It isn't easy being in her shoes..especially if this has been going on for
