Cravings, what did you do?

When you were in Phase One, what did you do for your cravings? Let me clarify. By Cravings, I mean the desire to eat more. Please share with me your solution.
Did you exercise when you felt them? Did you drink more liquids? Did you eat more veggies? Did you just Psychologically fight them off?
I am on Day 6 of Phase One, and I am hanging in there, but I find myself fighting off. This is slightly complicated by the fact that I have to wait at least 2 hours after a meal and test my Glucose for my Type 2 Diabetes. Once I have tested, then I can eat again.

Jason,
I think that Phase 1 is especially hard on you because of the diabetes.
I have to wonder if a lot of the hunger is psychological...you know you can't eat for two hours, so you're thinking about it and that makes you hungry.
Hi Jason,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having a tough time.
I appreciate your concerns Maggie. I am listening to them and your suggestions. I also am taking everything you and others have said, who are very educated in the South Beach, into account.
I just took a reading and I am down to 112 just before dinner. I had a pretty good day today. I certainly am going to look into the soups and other suggestions that have been made. I am really watching my Glucose levels carefully. I do not think its Diabetes that is affecting me with the cravings. I think its more the change to healthy eating habits and doing my best not to stray from the requirements. I have plenty of energy, and I actually am making an attempt to get into bed earlier and sleep more. Miranda discovered today, an article that said Men who sleep less than 8 hours a night have higher glucose and insulin levels. While nothing is etched in stone, I am sure you can draw your own conclusion from this. Since I also have trouble sleeping and usually get no more than 4 hours a night, I can see the possibility.

I finally got to the store and purchased some Laughing Cow Light Cheese today and I think that helped. I had forgotten that Laughing Cow Cheese was part of Phase 1 until this morning. So with the addition of that and some of the soups suggested, I think I will be good to go. I feel I am one of the lucky ones because I do not crave sweets. I just like to eat! ALOT!!!!!

Hello Cathy!
I am feeling great Today! I am adding some things from the suggestions but I am still going to hang in there in Phase one. Tonight I am also adding 30 mins on the Bowflex!

"Miranda discovered today, an article that said Men who sleep less than 8 hours a night have higher glucose and insulin levels."
Jason, this is very true!
Yep, I can see where I would have had stress over the years. I had sole custody of my 2 youngest boys for the last 12 years and as you know when they hit about 15 or 16 they can create a lot of stress. The next stage of stress is when they just start to become adults. They are currently 18 and 20. My 20 year old thought I was the evil parent when he was between 17 and 18 because I was very much against him wearing his pants where the crotch of them was half way down to his knees. Combine that with the fact that I would not allow a him to have a girl in his room with the door closed or would not allow him to stay out to all hours of the morning, made him rebel. So he decided to move down to where my Ex was and live with her. After 6 months to a year, he has moved back and is a changed person. You could not ask for a more polite, helpful, son. He is working at Victoria's Secret and is working hard on completing his first two years of college. On the other hand, my 18 year old son decided to stop attending his college classes last semester. This son scored in standardized testing at the top 10% in the nation across the board. He also decided not to attend school this semester and took a job working on the back of a garbage truck. He wants to move out of the house so he can come and go as he wishes, and do as he pleases. Once again I have become the evil parent, and I am going through the cycle one more time. Recently his car has broken down, so Miranda and I have to get up at 5:30 so I can drive him to work.
Combine all of this with pushing Randa through school during the many times she wanted to quit, and I would say I might have had a little bit of stress currently as well as in the past. On top of that, it took us many years to get Miranda healthy, and we think we finally finished that project 6 months ago. She feels great, for the first time in her life, she can sleep on her back and breathe freely. In addition she is off all medication except for a nasal spray and occasional migraine pill.
Now we are dealing with my health issues. Isn't life grand? It could be worse. At least we have found many interests and things we can do together. After introducing Miranda to sailing three years ago(something I have not done for 33 years), she has become quite the pirate. Some how I knew I should have never taken her to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
My Doctors have tried Ambien and other drugs over the years to help me regulate sleep, but I think a good, well-balanced eating program like the South Beach has more of an influence on it than anything else. Well, maybe that and a desirable partner turning down the sheets for you! Now if I could only get her to put a nice mint(oops a nice laughing cow cheese) on my pillow!!!!
