Chipotle? Anyone ever go there?
| Tue, 02-26-2008 - 12:42pm |
Does anyone ever eat at Chipotle? It's the burrito place; I usually get a burrito bol with both pinto and black beans, chicken, and 2 kinds of tomato salsa. Everything I get would be legal, but I cannot find an ingredient list, so I don't know if they would be completely legal or not. Just wondering if anyone else ever eats there. There is a new one opening up right down the street from my work and I think it would be a nice change for lunch every once in a while. Plus, they are giving away free burritos or bols today, so I was going to go get one :).

According to the Dining Out Guide....
You can have the Bol Salads (the regular bol technically comes with rice) with the beef or chicken fajita toppings.

Ah - my home away from home. We eat at Chipotle probably once a week.
I always get a salad or burrito bowl (you can easily ask them to hold the rice - just say it quick since rice is the first thing on the "line" and they start scooping quickly!). I'm not sure why the beans wouldn't be legal - they are just beans and spices, not refried. They have 0g sugar and 1g fat, so I consider them legal personally. I also get fajita vegetables, chicken, fresh tomato salsa, and guacamole (sometimes I get a small sprinkle of cheese - yes its not low fat, but that is a personal choice and I've never really worried about it) I prefer it as a salad instead of the bowl because then they fill the bottom with lettuce and it feels like more food. Stay away from the dressing though - its loaded in sugar. There is enough "goop" with the guac, the liquid from the beans and the salsa to act as a dressing.

OMG ~ I just went to Chipolte for the first time ever and it was SO GOOD!!
I am at work today and did not have time to make my lunch so since
Their guacamole is legal for any phase. I believe it counts towards your fat limits, so just getting 1/2 a scoop was probably a good idea--they can be very generous with that stuff!
Isn't it a nice refreshing change from the normal "fast" food?
I love their corn salsa, which technically isn't legal until Phase 3, but I may have to do it every once in a wihle on phase 2 and just count it towards my grain servings because it's yummy!
Yep - the guacamole is fine, its just avocado, tomato, red onion, lime and spices. 1/2 cup is equal to 1T oil, so 1/2 = one fat serving. Remember that this isn't a low-fat diet but a good fat diet and avocado is one of the best fats!
And yeah - I have NO problem putting away the whole thing! I've had one literally every week for the last year and there is never a single morsel left in the bowl!

Oh good news! Thanks! Yes you are right......note to self:
Personally - yes, but I have never been a huge fanatic about the "rules". And since I am on phase 3 now I don't count servings at all any more - if I want 6 grains in one day, fine. It hasn't been a problem for me personally to just eat from the list without counting. Not everyone may be able to do that. I would guess a full scoop isn't too much more than 1/2 cup. We are supposed to have 2.5 fat servings per day. Other things that count towards fats are salad dressing (2T = one serving), and oils (1T = 1 serving).

I went to Chipotle for the first time ever today - I've never even been near one!
I was running late and was starving (due to a doctor's appointment and a crisis at work my lunch got pushed really late today - but I did snack during what have been my "normal" lunch time!), I saw Chipotle practically next door to my doctor's office and remember people raving about it on this board and decided to give it a try for lunch.
Amazing.
I had a chicken salad.
Except I forgot/didn't realize that the pinto beans had bacon in them and that the cheese wasn't low fat. Ooopsies. I did only ask for a sprinkle of cheese and I loaded up on the hot salsa (sooooo gooooood).
So next time:
BLACK BEANS, NO cheese, and maybe I'll try the guacamole.
Might be worth going back to the doctor's...no, never mind. I'll just make a special trip out there every once and a while.
On a side note, anyone go to Qdoba? That's actually found fairly often around here and I wonder if it's in the same 'health' league as Chipolte.
