Does anyone know of a trick to keep a banana from ripening to fast? I would buy bananas for the week, but bye the end of the week, they were always over ripened and I tried to buy them green.

I don't know a trick to prevent it - but what I do to "save" them so I don't have to throw them away is freeze them before they get too brown to use. Then I have a constant supply ready for smoothie making, or that can be thawed and mashed for things like banana muffins, pancakes, etc.
I'm assuming you don't keep them in a bag - being out in the open slows it down, a bag quickens the ripening. Other than that, I just freeze and buy more!

You can seal them in a plastic bag and it will delay the ripening.
