I tried to send you an e-mail but didn't have contact info. I just wanted to send a huge cyber {{{hug}}} to you after reading last week's very disheartening exchange. I was aghast at the tone and manner of the posts aimed towards you. You have been a constant and unwavering voice of reason, support, and good cheer throughout my time on the South Beach board and I, for one, always appreciate hearing your opinions (and fact-based information as well) about all types of things related to diet, exercise, overall good health, sex (LOL!), and finding balance in life. I will never be the size 1 that you are, nor do I strive for that, but we both continue to work towards good health not only for ourselves but for our families and I have been so helped by learning about all the ways you have incorporated healthful habits into your daily life. Thank you, and don't let the turkeys get you down.

Hey girl! Thanks - you made my day, seriously. I'm off to take a killer biology exam in about an hour, so the boost in self-esteem is much appreciated right now! I love all you guys here so much, and don't worry about me, it takes more than that to ruffle my feathers. And technically I am not a size 1 ;-) , its really more like a size 2 lol!
We've missed you around here!

Yeah so
Good luck on the exam, MichaelAnn!
Thanks everyone! I think the test went okay - its an insane amount of info for a intro freshman biology class. I was at the doctor with dd this week and had my book there studying and one of the nurse's was looking over my shoulder and asked if I was in med school! Umm, no - I just want to be an elementary school teacher. She's like what does the phosphorelation of glucose-6-phosphate by the enzyme phosphoglucoisomerase during glycolysis have to do with teaching? I told her that was a darn good question. (and no, I swear I didn't make up that word, and yes, my teacher counts off for spelling!)

I did get the topic, I actually had to beg and plead with another student to let me have it because he wanted it too (only because he thought it would be "easy", he thought SB was some kind of shake diet) I'm scheduled to do it after Spring Break - I've kind of been working on it, re-reading the SB book, etc.
Part of the outline for the project is an intro slide to grab audience attention and tell why we chose the topic. I was originally going to include my before-after pic on that slide. Now I am getting really nervous about that idea, my class is all younger "kids", I'm starting to get to know some of them and I'm not sure I have the guts to put a picture of the "old" me up there. I'm afraid they will all look at me different, instead of the "hip, cool mom" I think they see me as now, I will become be the "old lady who used to be fat".
