It was a great show! "The Truth About Food"

Dr. Oz talked a lot about foods and the impact they have on you and your body in so many ways. Bob Greene was on too. Everything they said backed up what South Beach is all about.

The right foods can help almost any physical or mental problem and the wrong foods can cause so many problems. Its so true that you 'are' what you eat!

I am glad that the word is getting spread more & more these days.

I called my 8 year old daughter in the room with me and had her watch it with me. If you missed it you can go to Oprah.com and get the highlights.

Yesterdays show was a re-run, and I had seen it when it first aired. He also did a 2-part special on the Discovery Health Channel called "The Truth About Food". It was really interesting. I'm betting they will air it again, so if you get that channel you should look for it.

I always love the Dr. Oz shows!!

Interesting - my MIL is a huge Dr. OZ fan and she is always griping about the way we eat. Everytime she comes to visits she goes through the pantry and is like "Dr. Oz says you should haven't have this, Dr. Oz says you shouldn't have that" and on and on. My whole pantry is 100% South Beach friendly, so I always assumed that Dr. Oz wasn't very South Beach compatible?? Or my MIL is raving lunatic (which is probably the case)

From what I've seen, most of his principles are pretty much the same as SBD--whole grains, no HFCS, etc. But I don't think he approves of "artificial" sweeteners like Splenda, and he also doesn't have anything against certain veggies like SBD does (white potatoes, corn, etc.).

I understand the sweeteners - one thing she said is that he is against almonds or nuts - can't remember if it was one or all of them? Something about the type of fat "turns into" trans fat? Something about our bodies hydrogenate it. Don't know - I tuned her out when she started telling me my plain almonds were "death food".

Didn't you once say you started losing weight because your MIL is this jealous, spiteful person? So she MUST be a raving lunatic on other topics as well.
