Does your DH know how much you weigh?
| Thu, 03-06-2008 - 10:37am |
I ask this because right now, mine does not. For most of our relationship my weight has been between 125 and 130 (it was at 120 when we first started dating). I was generally proud of my weight so I occasionally shared with DH and he has 125 stuck in his head. Since I went over 130 I did mention that to DH but I'm too ashamed/embarrassed to give him actual numbers. Last night he made some comment about how I weigh 125 and I felt terrible because he's over 10 pounds off!
What about the rest of you?

"I am curious how tall everyone is? And what size you wear? I am 5'7" and a size 6 right now (although I can still fit into some of my size 4s)......usually I am a size 4 (when I weigh 133.........7 more lbs and I will be there!)"
Hi Nicol,
I'm 5'6".
I've always been baffled by body types!!!
I'm 5'7" and right now weighing 201. I've always thought I was a large-framed person, but lately, after doing the finger/thumb test around my wrist, I'm finding that I'm really a small frame. (So much for my ultimate goal-weight according to that!!!) I've always had a pretty muscular top, but not heavy in the bust. My thighs & calves have always been pretty muscular as well. I'm still sticking to 160. I think it's a good goal for age (44) and my dr will be happy if I can get there as well.
To give an example of different sizes for the same weight, I know of another person that is basically the same weight and height as me, but can wear jeans 2 sizes smaller. I'm just now getting into a tight 18 jeans. I guess it's body composition and weight distribution. Most of my extra weight is in my tummy, hips & thighs. I have trouble pulling any smaller jeans over all that!!!
It will be interesting to see what size I will be when I get down to 160. I just have absolutely no idea!!!

No, he doesn't.
I think that there are a ton of factors that go into this: fat distribution, frame size, muscle mass, bust, etc.
I'm fascinated by body types too. Since I am at the opposite end than most people (very short 5'2", small frame, small boned, small feet - size 5) Even though I am a size 2, I don't consider myself "skinny" or "bony" even though it would sound like it to some. I just consider myself very fit and I am quite muscular for my size, so even at 113 lbs I don't look "scrawny" or anything. I mean, I can bench 70% of my body weight, which is pretty good for a woman, and I can do over 200lbs on the leg press - I've got some big ol' muscles on my butt and thighs - they are just very defined, cut and toned muscles with basically no fat over them. So for me, my muscles stick out, not bones LOL!
Its tough though to always hear that people my size are scrawny, bony, too skinny, etc. Its just not the case. My weight/size is perfect for my frame, just like someone else who has a much higher weight or goal size may be right for their frame.
There is nothing wrong with being on either end of the spectrum - big or small. Unfortunately it seems people think we should all be 5'5", size 6 and 130 or some odd combo of numbers. If you weight 175 and look hot and fit in a size 10 - awesome. If you weight 115 and look muscular and fit in a size 2 - awesome. Its really the exact same thing.
