Does South Beach really work?

approaching the big 4-0, tired of winter, need to walk, don't like diets, but did read south beach diet book........just having trouble motivating, afraid i'm going to starve and obsess about my next meal. it was so much easier 20 years ago! also being single, no kids and no husband. yes i know that's not really an excuse, we can do what we put our minds to. it takes discipline and willingness.........and taking the first step!

don't need advice but would like to hear stories that motivate! thank you in advance!!!!!!!!!!!

frustrated and getting softer by the month!  :)

Yes - it worked for me. I could never even commit to the idea of a "diet" before because I hated the idea of starving myself or being hungry. South Beach isn't like that, you aren't ALLOWED to be hungry. That is considered a bad thing on South Beach, we eat! I lost 67lbs and dropped 7 sizes, going from a size 18 to a size 2. You can see my before/after pics and ready my story from the links in my siggy.

I hope you decide to join us!

You look amazing! I did see your before and after photos. I am inspired. It's a matter of taking the first step and keeping up with it. I'm not ecstatic about the way I look but even more than that, I don't like how I feel. Thanks for the support and the replies of everyone to my post. I'm getting used to the ivillage format. I used to visit this site years ago when my 14 yo was a baby! It's good to be back. I would like to lose something before my bday at the end of April!

Heck yeah it works!! Its not a diet but a way of eating for life. Its re-training yourself to make the right food choices and become more healthy. You will detox your system in the 1st 2 weeks therefore eliminating cravings for 'bad' foods. When you see yourself being successful and feeling better it is so motivating. You DO NOT go hungry with this way of eating, you eat plenty of good foods often.

I highly recommend SB and always do to anyone who says they want to lose weight and get healthy.

Go for it, you will feel so much better and you have nothing to lose but the weight!!

ETA ~ you definitely came to the right place for the support, encouragement and information that you will need to reach your goal. This board is amazing, has so many really great helpful, knowledgeable people and is FULL of info. In fact be sure to read the "getting started thread" located in the phase 1 folder because there is new info. since the book was published (some things have changed)

You can do it!!

I am the resident South Beach piggy. ;-)

And I don't exercise. And I have lost 46.5 lbs in the last year.

Nuff said.
