Let's talk Easter Baskets

So I've got three Easter Baskets to fill. I'm trying to get away from so much candy....they don't need it and I don't need the temptation. And I've seen in the DYK thread others with the same idea....less candy.
Add to the mix a kid we just found out who is Peanut and Tree Nut allergic (like traces can be life threatening allergic) and that takes a BUNCH of candy out of the mix anyway. She can't even have "Manufactued on equipment that processes P or TN" -- which takes out more candy than you'd ever imagine.
So I'm looking for alternative idea...I've though of sidewalk chalk (seen it egg shaped) and some of those expanding pellets that turn into animal shapes (also seen those in plastic eggs).
DD is 8, DS's are 6.5 (the 0.5 is very important to him) and 4.

We don't do Easter baskets, but I am looking for goodie bag ideas for our Easter egg hunt.
How about a
When my kids were small I always put some candy in their baskets along with things like:
Now that they are older, they really don't even want the candy. This year they are getting Juicy Couture wallets with a gift card and a cute T-shirt I found that says "Fashion Is Not A Luxury" (my older DD is a fashion major).
My DD is only 22 months, but here's what she will be getting in her Easter basket:
Individual packages of nuts
Bubbles are great for little ones!! Stickers are fun too.
Aaarrgh...stickers!!!
My MIL and FIL have both worked for Hallmark for 30+ years and they have an endless supply of stickers.
We've done completely candy free baskets for a few years now. I don't buy any since they always end up getting some from grandparents, parties, friends, etc.
We always do things like bubbles, sidewalk chalk, etc. I actually just got all of dd's stuff at Walmart this morning. She got a couple Rainbow Magic Fairy books, a Littlest Pet Shop purse, new sunglasses, lipgloss, bath stuff, some play jewlery, etc. Ds is getting a couple books he has been wanting, a journal/pen set, a kite and some art supplies (girls are so much easier to buy cute "little" stuff for!)
For our neighborhood egg hunt do at our house every year I bought 200 toy filled eggs from Oriental Trading company rather than candy filled. Everyone that comes also brings eggs to share as well - those will all have candy I'm sure, so I don't need to add to that! The kids actually enjoy the toy ones as well - they have things in them like tattoos, bouncy balls, erasers, rings, etc.

We always, ALWAYS got presents in our Easter Baskets. That tradition started at my second Easter because my first Easter was filled with 5 or 6 huge overflowing baskets of nothing but candy - and I was less than a year old!
What are they interested in? The Easter I remember the most was during a time that I was really involved with making bead jewelry and I got tons of beads, connectors, fish line, etc. I've been reading since I was 4 1/2 so books were always part of the basket. Sudoku is still pretty big, there are some good books for kid's out there - the 8 year old should be old enough, and maybe even the 6.5 year old. Even now I know that I will receive the Easter Beanie Baby (other than the graduation one, those are the only one's I've gotten for YEARS). Coloring books and crayons...I often comment that I want to color at work. Outside toys...jump ropes, roller blades (when I was 8 I was the first person I knew to get roller blades...), balls (think the GIANT ones you can find at grocery stores), etc. Even little dolls/action figures are good.
Honestly, with the exception of Cadburry Eggs, I don't even remember the candy - except that it was still around the next Easter because I never ate it.

-Corporate Run, 3.5 miles 6/2/11 (36:38, 4 days after running the half!)
-BAA 10k, 6/26/11 (1:04:52, wanted to be under an hour...)

I am glad you asked this question because DH & I were just talking about this topic a few days go. We also have 3 baskets to fill and we are wanting more non-candy ideas too. Everyone here has great ideas!
So far I bought them each 1 chocolate bunny from SEES (DS school fundraiser) but that will be the only candy this year in their baskets. I usually do more because that is the way I was raised, on Easter you got lots of candy in your basket. But we have decided to really limit (probably almost eliminate altogether) all the candy.....my gosh there are so many holidays that kids get candy, it seems to never stop coming. Halloween then Christmas, then Valentines, then Easter and not to mention all the Birthday parties with candy in between....ugh, we had candy coming out of our ears this year. No more! WE are trying to decide what to do for Halloween this year because I just don't think they need to go collect a big container full of candy. This year we ended up throwing most of it away. Any ideas on that one?
