Let's talk Easter Baskets

So I've got three Easter Baskets to fill. I'm trying to get away from so much candy....they don't need it and I don't need the temptation. And I've seen in the DYK thread others with the same idea....less candy.
Add to the mix a kid we just found out who is Peanut and Tree Nut allergic (like traces can be life threatening allergic) and that takes a BUNCH of candy out of the mix anyway. She can't even have "Manufactued on equipment that processes P or TN" -- which takes out more candy than you'd ever imagine.
So I'm looking for alternative idea...I've though of sidewalk chalk (seen it egg shaped) and some of those expanding pellets that turn into animal shapes (also seen those in plastic eggs).
DD is 8, DS's are 6.5 (the 0.5 is very important to him) and 4.

I don't know how old your kids are - but what we do for Halloween: they do trick or treat, afterwards they get to pick a small amount of candy (about 7 pieces) to keep. The rest they leave outside their bedroom door and the "Halloween Fairy" comes and exchanges it for another type of "treat" - a movie, a puzzle, etc. We started this when ds was 6 and dd was 3 (before I even started South Beach), so they totally bought into it. I'm not sure they believe me about it anymore, but they still prefer the idea of trading in their candy for a toy!
When I was a kid we had a dentist in town that traded you candy for money (they would weigh it and pay you by the pound) I always like that idea too.
I don't give out candy either, I buy things like tattoos, stickers, pencils, coloring books bubbles, glow sticks, etc. from Oriental Trading Co. to give out.

The orthodontist that my kids use trade their candy for a toy or gift certificate.
Thanks MichaelAnn for the Halloween idea. That is what I think we will do. Let them pick out like 10 pieces and then trade the rest in for a bigger prize. I also like the idea of trading it in at the dentist......I will check with ours to see if they do that, thanks Cathy.
My kids are 14, 8 & 4. Since the younger ones still believe in the Easter bunny I still do one for the 14 year old too. I will be using some of the ideas here, little toys, etc and I like the coupon idea for the youinger ones and CDs and eggs with $ for 14 year old. Then just the one choc. bunny.

You inspired me to consolidate all the Easter stuff I've bought over the past few weeks (I haven't really kept track of what I bought!)...sorry to say there is an entire Target bag full of candy! LOL! Hey, I did find some sugarfree Peeps fr DH!! :o)
I have my kids baskets (6.5 and 4.5), plus smaller ones for my little nephews (3 & 5.5)
