Need help with my addiction

I don't crave candy or pasta or bread... I crave natural peanut butter. I've been buying a jar and eating about half of the jar after getting home from work. I don't do this every night but probably Monday and/or Tuesday nights. It's been like this for the past 2 or 3 weeks. That's all I eat for the night since it does fill me up. I know I'm eating something that is SB legal but I'm eating way too much and I'm more concerned of the calories and fat I'm consuming rather than if it's legal or not. It may be more of emotional eating since I've been very busy and hectic at work. I get home from work and plop on the couch and turn on the TV and stuff my face with this peanutty goodness. And I know for sure I'm not pregnant so I can rule that one out! :)

So, I need help!! I'm weighing myself almost everyday (which I know isn't recommended but it keeps me in check). I don't know what to do to keep the cravings away. I know I can do something as simple as not having it in my apartment but it's always easy to buy it at the store on my way home. I think I'm going overboard on it since I know this is a SB legal food. Also, I work out 4-5 times a week doing circuit training/cardio so I also have this notion in the back of my head that it's okay since I'll burn it off the next morning (I work out before work). I know better than to eat white bread or candy or cake!! I may be craving sweets as well. I eat 1-2 servings of fruit a day and I'm staying away from sugar free jello, pudding, candy, etc. for right now since it was not agreeing with me. I guess the fruit isn't doing the trick....

There are 3 ways that I can think of for you to handle this:

Natural PB may be SBD 'legal', but the serving size is only 2 Tablespoons per day.

I'm normally not one to fuss over servings or calories - but you are right that in this case the amount you are eating will certainly affect your weight loss efforts.

Even if you did "burn it off" - think about all other important nutrients you are depriving your body of by filling up on one thing like that! You need a variety of food - your body needs variety for health and also to keep weight loss going. Getting stuck in a rut is no good, no matter what the food. Even if all you ate for weeks was broccoli, I would still say the same thing. So the calories/fat, etc are an issue - a big issue, but not the only issue.

I also agree that you just can't buy it - at least for awhile. For me that is easy enough, as a I HATE stopping at the store, so I would never in a million years make a trip out JUST to buy something that I knew I shouldn't have. But if you really think you will stop for it, can you come up with another plan? Can you pack another favorite SBD food, one that you love, but don't overdo in the same way, to take with you so that you can eat it in the car on the way home? Would you really stop for PB if you were actually actively eating something else? Or the nights you have the urge can you stop for a special dinner - a salad or meal to go from your favorite place instead?

Hi Amber,

Your workout schedule is great, but I doubt that you're working off that peanut butter.
