Who all uses the Taco Seasoning Packages? Is it legal?

Who all makes their own? I have the ingredients to make your own, was just wondering who all did this?

I prefer to make my own just because the sodium is so much lower!

If I can get the Low Sodium McCormick's brand I'll use that since it doesn't have anything bad in it.

I used to make this on from Robin Miller's once a week cooking, and it tastes just like the mixes only better! Since is was once a week cooking, the meat started off as lasagna meat sauce, and seasonings were added to make the tacos. It is really good:

Lasagna Filling:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup chopped onion
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 pounds lean ground beef or ground turkey
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
3 (28-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
1 (14-ounce) can tomato sauce

For tacos add:

2 cups leftover lasagna filling
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin

I totally use the one from President's Choice (yet another reason to shop in Canada!). The "blue label" one is low sodium, and has nothing bad in it.

Thanks all! I went grocery shopping tonight and found the low sodium McCormicks Taco Seasoning, but when I read the ingredients there is a little sugar in it, so I think I will stick to making my own for the time being as I am trying to stay away from sugar as much as possible for DH.

The 30% less sodium version does have dextrose.
