Need a boost

I think I need a little motivation to continue believing that this is still the best route for me.

I have lost 3 lbs, since I started 2 weeks and 4 days ago.  I stayed on Phase 1 for a few extra days, to try and hit 5 lbs.  No such luck.  I know that if I don't go to Phase 2 (and have a little broader menu), I'll be likely to eat something really out of line and blow everything off kilter.

I realize that I have been eating well for quite some time (veggies, a little fruit, lean proteins and whole grains).  Which is why I found SBD so appealing.  I've cut back in some areas, and now understand why it's necessary.  I also understand that this is why I'm not seeing a huge change in weight.  But, I'm also not seeing a change in measurements.

I DO have 20 lbs. to lose!  Once I get there, this is definitely the eating strategy that I want to use, as a lifestyle.  But, I can't seem to get past three pounds, and summer is fast approaching.

I have not been supplementing my diet with fiber (Citrucel), every day.  Does everyone use this daily or more than that?  Could this be the problem?

Cheers to all,

Andrea

You need to move to Phase 2.

I know its not what you want to hear - but 3lbs in two weeks is a normal, average healthy amount of weight loss. The "big" numbers the first few weeks usually come from people who have a lot more than that to lose, and who have been eating worse before. I know you already know this, though.

Look at it this way - I had 70lbs to lose and lost 8lbs in the first two weeks. That is 11%. You have 30lbs to lose and lost 3lbs, that is 10%. So your two week total is basically the same as mine was.

If you look at rate of loss, it took me 44 weeks to lose 70lbs. So I lost an average of about 1.5lb per week. About the rate you are losing.

So I guess my point is - I'm generally considered a "success" story around here and your numbers so far match mine pretty closely. It gives you an idea of how those numbers add up over time. You can't look at just one or two weeks worth of numbers to see a difference. Life just doesn't work that way. Its about the long-term, its about small weekly changes adding up to the big ones over time.

Hi Andrea,

I know how you feel. I am on day 16 on SB. I moved into P2 yesterday as scheduled. So far I have lost 4 lbs. It can be frustrating when you have lost weight faster before or you see others losing weight faster. But its true that you

Ok I forgot to respond about the fiber. I posted about this too about a week ago. (I have copy & pasted the info Cathy provided below) Yes, if you are not 'going' that could be part why the loss is happening a bit slower. Can you post a sample of your daily menu so we can see what you are eating? You may be getting too much or too little fiber as pointed out to me. Also someone recommended ground flaxseed, they said that helps.
