Did any of you celebrate this weekend? Any green beer or other St. Patrick's Day temptations for you?
I heard that they officially moved St. Patrick's Day to yesterday (Saturday, March 15th) since the official date falls during Holy Week. Your thoughts?
Happy St. Patrick Day!! We had our children's Birthday party yesterday, our son turned 4 on the 9th and our daughter turns 8 on the 19th. So we just had a joint party for both. It was a lot of fun. We had a big bounce house with a slide, a pinata and played simon says and musical chairs. It would have been fun to do a St. Patrick's day theme, I did not know that they moved it to Sat. It says on our calendar that it is Mon. the 17th. Where did you hear this? Interesting.
My hubby barbequed hamburgers and hot dogs and we had a fruit platter, a veggie platter and chips. Also a cake filled with chocolate mousse. I stayed strict to SB I had only ate the veggies and a few grapes. I had one very small bite of cake. It was not easy avoiding the big bowl of doritos......but I did not even eat one!! :-)
Now if I can be as strong today as I was yesterday. We are going to our friends son's Birthday party! Wish me luck!
So they "officially" moved St. Patty's Day to yesterday? I think"they" forgot to notify most of us! I'd never heard that...
I bet the leprechauns will show up sometime during the night and so sneaky things like turning and the liquids in my fridge green...at least that's what they did last year! Maybewe'll have pistachio pudding for dessert...
I love St. Patty's Day, but I'm not very creative in celebrating it!
I'm almost all irish, but no special foods for me...I have a big gaudy(but cute) st. patty's day necklace that i wear all st. patty's day wee. I used to wear it all month when I was teaching school. now...I've scaled it down to 1 week, but still fun.
Its not just a mid-west thing - its a "non-Texas" thing. They still do that in schools all over CA. My dd was very sad when it didn't happen here last year. Of course in CA we had Christmas parties, Halloween parades, Easter egg hunts, etc. at school - but our schools here in Texas have all that stuff banned. One teacher actually got in trouble for using red and green M&M's for counting with during December because it might "imply the celebration of a religious holiday" Yeah, a little paranoid are we? Just another reason to be homesick LOL!
I had too much homework to go out do anything this weekend. Plus I still have some bad memories from last year LOL
So today we are celebrating St. Patrick's day with an EGG HUNT! My friend thought that would be really funny. We to a bunch of St. Patrick's day and Easter decorations and mixed them all up together. I'm gonna wear big shamrock sunglasses with an Easter Egg antenna headband! The kids are on Spring Break, so we are having 14 kids over to our house this afternoon. I've got 300 eggs filled so far, will do a few more today, and everyone is supposed to bring some to share. We did a lot of yard work this weekend, planted some flowers and such. Should be fun as long as it doesn't rain - it was a 30% chance, but now its down to 10%, so I think we are in the clear!

Happy Birthday to your kiddos!! My birthday is on the 19th, too...though I'm well past 8 years old! :o) Sounds like a great party!
Worldwide celebrations for St Patrick's Day could face disruption after
the Catholic Church decided to move the Irish patron saint's feast day.

When I lived in Illinois as a child, the leprechauns always came into the school and messed things up for us.
