birth control pill & the diet--questions
| Mon, 03-17-2008 - 2:37pm |
I have experienced some weight gain (15 pounds in a 5 month period) while on the birth control pill (ortho tri-cyclen) and decided to go on Phase 1 a week ago. I have been so strict and have only lost 3 pounds, could the pill be preventing me from losing the weight I need to lose? I am tempted to get off of the pill and see how my weight loss is. I have a feeling that the pill might be holding weight on. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Thank you in advance.

Losing 3 pounds in one week is great!!
I think in the book it say UP TO 8 to 13 pounds.

Hi there.
Hi,
Welcome back!
Everyone is different, and there are MANY different pills with different types, formulations and dose levels of hormones. I experienced extreme weight gain due to birth control pills. But I was on the highest dose pills on the market.
Your weight loss however is well within what would be expected - usually people who lose the 8-13lbs have more to lose. But if you experience a slow loss for awhile, I would definitely consider at least trying a different type. I went off altogether 3.5 years ago and would never consider going back on. I am very happy I got all the artificial hormones out of my body and got it regulated naturally.
