OT: How to remove permanant marker??

I need help!!!!!   DS just found my permanent marker (which was hidden in the back of a drawer) and now I have black permanent ink on one of my beautiful maple finished kitchen cabinets!!  This absolutely has GOT to come off before DH gets home tonight.  Does anyone have any ideas?  It's fresh, and I just tried getting it off wirh regular cleaners, to no avail.  I'm afraid to try something like nail polish remover, for fear it's going to take the finish off the cabinets.

And so my day begins...

I think Jennie had this problem a while ago with her comforter.

Hairspray! It works every time. If a slight mark is still there try using those OXY wipes that you used as a teenager on your face. That should pick up the last of it.

I had boys that lived across from me in college many of my mornings were spent removing permanent marker from their faces!

Mr Clean Magic Eraser. When ds was 3 he drew with sharpie all over my grandmother's antique hope chest she brought when she immigrated from Italy. Serious family heirloom. Magic eraser got it off no problem and didn't damage the 100 year old finish a bit!

I now keep a box of them on reserve at all times!

Have to second (or third?) the Magic Eraser.

It took black Sharpie of my oak kitchen cabinets....and didn't bother the finish.

Good luck, Joy! I know how my DH freaks out when anything happens to walls, furniture, etc. Let us know what works!
