I'm looking at this laptop....does it sound good? Would you upgrade anything? I'm mostly getting it for work...I do mostly data analysis...excel type stuff. I've never had a laptop...only a desktop (which is a 80G hard drive, ?? processor...if someone tells me how to check, I will).

Not sure this will be much help (I posted this in the DYK thread, but maybe you missed it):
dyk having recently purchased a laptop for my dd going to college, the one you are looking at looks like it has what you need/state of the art?
dyk you might want to go to www.bestbuy.com or some other store to compare features to make sure you like what you are getting/paying for?
What brand is it? That can make a huge difference. Also, how much is it listed for?
I haven't heard anything good about Vista - but if you want a Window's based Operating System, you are pretty much stuck with that.
I'm in the minority here, but my personal opinion is to switch to a Mac. I'm in love with mine and wish it wasn't so new (July of 2007) or I'd buy a Macbook Air which is the best laptop I've seen. I would highly recommend using one if at all possible. I did have one little problem with the hard drive, but they fixed it (and by fixed it, I mean replaced it with a brand new hard drive with a free 3 year warranty) for free - in less than 48 hours. I dropped it off on a Saturday afternoon and the following Monday MORNING (right when they opened), they called to say it was ready.
Yes, they can be a little pricey. Yes, there are some programs that can't be run on a Mac. Yes, programs that are adapted from Window's to Mac's sometimes are a little more expensive. But it's sooooo worth it. If you can manage it, I highly suggest it.
-Boston Run to Remember Half Marathon, 5/29/11 (2:35:11, no training!)
-Corporate Run, 3.5 miles 6/2/11 (36:38, 4 days after running the half!)
-BAA 10k, 6/26/11 (1:04:52, wanted to be under an hour...)
-Tavern to Tavern
Did you get it? We're looking at one now, and we'd like this one but want blue tooth in it.
