Healthy eating for college student

Hi,

My daughter is a freshman in college this year.  She has always been petite, and thin.  And realistically in most people's eyes, she still is.  But she HAS gained the dreaded 'freshman 15' and she is just beside herself.  She works out on a regular basis (although not as much as she did this past summer.....simply isn't as much time) 2-4 times per week.  She's very health conscious in terms of the food choices she makes, but as many of you know from personal experience, eating in a college dining hall doesn't it easy to eat healthy all of the time.  Mostly I think she needs ideas for snacks that are dorm friendly and are healthy.  So whatever suggestions you have, please share!!

I've done SBD for a long time and have maintained a decent weight on it.  I'm not following it to the letter, but close enough that I'm aware of what foods are not good choices, and those that are.  I never eat white bread, potatoes, sugary treats, stuff like that.  I'm telling you this because my daughter is obviously familiar with how I cook (whole grain as much as possible, lots of veggies, lean meats, etc) so she really does have a good feel for what is healthy.  I just think dorm living, and having a heavy load of classes (and the stress that goes along with that) and probably not sleeping nearly as well or as much as she should, has made it much more difficult to maintain the weight that she wants.

Anyway, any ideas would be very welcome!  Thanks, and have a Happy Easter, Nancy
