I was wondering if anyone had a simple all-inclusive and QUICK exercise plan they followed. I plan on trying to walk every day, but wanted something to do while sitting in front of the tv. (At least 2 nights a week I am watching American Idol, so may as well put that to good use!)
This is coming from someone who doesn't hate exercise, but really has to find a way to sneak it in. I was on my church volleyball league which was a BLAST, a good hour of hard work and fun---exercise in disguise. Monday was our last game (which I missed due to surgery), and that way only one day a week anyway. That was November through March. I did see a HUGE improvement in my stamina (and skills) by the end of the season!
I saw a special on I think Discovery Health for the "You-on a Diet" book and it looked like they had a simple, equipment free routine. I might look into that. (the exercises, not the diet!)
I have to start slow because technically I still have another week of no pushing/pulling/lifting!!! But I am still going for a walk around the block today!!!! :o)

There are tons of exercises that you can do in your livingroom. Try looking at sites like www.shape.com and www.fitnessmagazine.com for examples. They have tons of exercise ideas, and a lot of them don't require equipment, like push ups, sit ups, crunches, leg lifts, etc. You could also buy some dumb bells and do things like bicep curls, tricep kick backs, overhead presses, etc. to get in some toning. Another idea would be to buy a yoga or pilates book to learn some of the basic moves.
I haven't read the You On A Diet book, but I have read You The Owner's Manual. I really like the authors, but I don't think the book would be worth purchasing just for the exercises when there are so many free options out there.
You know what's funny - I actually have an American Idol exercise routine! :)
Travelling pushups (works abs, upper body)
and body squats
Those 2 exercises cover all the major muscle groups. All you need is a pair of dumbbells.

:o) I never buy books----unless it is from Goodwill!
