I don't think I am going to weigh myself.
I think I am going to just do the plan, live the life, and not make it about "THAT" number. I turn 40 on May 27th and I think I will make that day the first day I actually weigh in. I have a general idea of how much I weigh right now. It may be hard to do, especially at first, but I tend to be one of those "all or nothing" people who gets discouraged by the lack of big numbers fast (which obviously is unrealistic for anyone, but it is a fault of mine, and one that contributes to my past weight-loss failures.) So in order to quelch that from day one (today), I will avoid the scale. I am going to go more on how I am feeling, sleeping, how much energy I have, and how my clothes fit.
I am trying to approach this from a calm perspective, one with a goal of permanent change instead of one of desperate to get to a certain weight. I have read a LOT of posts today of people who have lost quickly to those who have taken a whole year to lose 30 pounds. I KNOW already that this WOE works, I know how great I felt the first time I did it and how effortless it felt (most of the time.)
Just thinking out loud and bouncing those thoughts off y'all!!! :o)

I just found this post after writing mine, which reaffirms my motivation not to weigh in!!!

YAY!
I do not weigh regularly -- I have a couple of health issues that help my weight loss go at a slower pace.
If it works for you or helps you stay on track - then go for it!
For me personally, I am actually a big fan of the scale. I've weighed myself faithfully everyday for over 3 years - it provided me with many moments of joy and was the location of many shrieks of excitement and "happy dances". It provided one of my biggest sources of motivation - its been a good friend of mine over the years. And in maintenance I feel it is an essential tool that keeps me in check and holds me accountable.
So everyone is different in what motivates them - you have to find what works for you.

I don't think that's a bad idea at all. The point is that you know what will motiave YOU. For me, I have to see the number. But really? The most encouraging thing has been fitting things a little better. Pants slightly less tight. So the real motivation has been in how I feel and fit. It makes sense.
I just know for me, I won't stay on track if I don't see the number. Some mornings, weighing in is what gets me out of bed right now. I jump up to 'see how I did'.
Looking forward to seeing how it works out for you!
I have never been a frequent weigher.
