Should I go back to P1?

Hi - I have been thinking about going back on P1 for a week or so.  I am having some cravings, but they may be able to be reigned in without going back.   I am mostly thinking about it because, after reviewing my journals since I started P2, I haven't really lost any weight.  For a brief glimpse, I did lose 2 pounds, but after the past two weeks, losing my dog and then my grandmother, I have gained them, plus one more back.  I have been eating more illegal food than usual and I am thinking that going back to P1 will "jump - start" me back to where I need to be AND kill the slight cravings I am having AND serve as some motivation.  If I could just see the scale move DOWN!! :)  Just wanted some insight on this idea... Thanks.

It's not a good idea to keep returning to phase 1.

More than likely this will backfire - #1, you won't see any extra loss because going back will actually SLOW your metabolism, #2, it won't necessarily help with the cravings - you are most likely having "desires" not "cravings" and restricting yourself even MORE could set off a binge and throw you totally off track. Find a healthy substitute for what you are craving and enjoy it instead of depriving yourself further or punishing yourself by going backwards. Life is about going forward, going backwards is rarely beneficial for anyone - weight loss or anything else!

You are much better off just sticking with phase 2, making sure you are eating ALL your fruits and grains, increasing your exercise, etc. I've been doing this for over 3 years and not even ONCE - not even for ONE day - have I ever gone back to phase 1.
