My boss is planning on taking a couple of us out for dinner to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse as a little thank you.

I was looking at the menu and since I'm not sure exactly when we are going so I may or may not be into Phase 2 yet I was looking for friendly Phase 1 options - keeping in mind I don't eat red meat (...and we're going to a steakhouse...).

This is the best I could come up with:
Grilled Portobello Mushrooms
Marinated Portobello mushrooms on our garlic mashed potatoes, with grilled asparagus, broccoli, tomatoes and sizzling lemon butter.

Obviously skipping the mashed potatoes, butter, and tomatoes (ewwww).

If anyone can figure anything else out:

Thanks!

I see they have a portobello mushroom as an entree...that would be a good choice. So would the Ahi Tuna Steak or possibly other fish entrees. I would steer clear of the chicken, it looks like it may have a bread stuffing.

If he's paying- go with the lobster! :-))

I agree that the Portobello entree sounds yummy and you could always start with the Shrimp Cocktail or the Crabtini

I should go with the lobster - make that 5 lobsters! This is a thank you for working "more than fair share" of hours/assignments/whatever - which equates to working 7 AM - 12 AM 3 nights in a row (Wednesday-Friday) and then 7 AM to 8 PM the next day (Saturday), of New Years weekend. Really, she should be bowing down and thanking the 5 of us, not taking us out to dinner on the corporate card.

The steak would be great - especially given the place, but I don't eat red meat so that's a no-go for me. I'm sticking with the seafood.

I love seafood but it was the pesto that was turning me off the Ahi tuna steak. I'm not a huge fan of red peppers and, well, pesto doesn't seem very legal to me.

If anything, I'm going to just do the best I can. It's a thank you for pulling 3 17 hour days in a row followed by a 13 hour day on New Years weekend. If that doesn't call cheat, I don't know what does! But, as I keep seeing around the board, life happens. This is definitely NOT a place I frequent and it's DEFINITELY a special occasion, so I'm just going to do the best I can and move on.

I was originally thinking of the mushrooms, but I'm now thinking about the Ahi tuna. I guess I'll see how each can be modified.

Just an FYI - pesto is legal. Its made from olive oil, garlic, basil and parmesan - all SBD legal ingredients. Obviously you don't know if theirs is pre-jarred, then it may contain hydrogenated oils (I'd say about 1/2 the ones I find the grocery store do, half don't) But if its the homemade type - its fine! Obviously not in huge quantities - but I treat it similar in portion size to salad dressing.
