Cold and weight gain???

Ok, so I have a nasty Minnesota spring cold going on (for about 2-3 days now).
I have been forcing myself to get everything in even though I haven't been that hungry. I have actually gained 3 lbs! I can't blame it on that time of the month, because I don't have that anymore. The only thing I have done different is add a glass of milk (1%). I discovered after 2+ months that I wasn't getting all of my dairy in. That discovery was made right about the time I got this cold.
Could that glass of milk be my 3lb weight gain culprit, or do you think it is somehow linked to my cold? NOTHING else has changed.

I'm not 100% sure - but I believe we often retain fluids when we are sick. Our body needs lots of fluids to fight infections - that is why we are advised to drink lots when we are sick and its easier to get dehydrated while sick. If you aren't keeping up with that, its possible your body is hanging onto more fluids to compensate. I've had "walking pneumonia" for a couple weeks and its been hard to keep up my fluids. No matter how much I drink I still feel dehydrated.
A glass of milk cannot make you gain 3lbs - to literally gain 3lbs of fat you'd have to eat an EXTRA 3500 x 3 (don't feel like doing the math!) calories beyond what your body normally burns in a day. No way a glass of milk did that.
Any time there is a gain like that suddenly its almost always water retention.

Thanks MichaelAnn!
I think all you can is wait til you are better, see what happens and then reevaluated as need!
Glad you like the nuts - we give them to everyone as gifts every Christmas and they are always a big hit!
Hope your feeling better soon!

I am a classic example of someone who either stalls or gains when I get sick.
Thank you for your response.
