It is so not fair.  Last week, DH commented about how he needed to get more serious about his woe because he was up a few pounds.  So, he added 1 salad a day and some time at the gym.  This morning, he had the nerve to tell me.  "Well, i'm back on track.  I'm down 5 pound in one week"

AUGH!!  That would take me a month!

I wish I could lose weight just half as easily as men can!

I've told this story a few times - remember that quicker at first is NOT always "better". Men tend to slow way down later, and they are MUCH more prone to backsliding in my opinion. Slow, steady and long-term CONSISTENCY is the key.

My dh lost 16lbs in phase 1. I lost 8. Then he went on to lose 50lbs in about 4 months. I had only lost about 25 in 4 months. He was getting ALL the attention (not ONE person commented on my weight loss, everywhere we went he got "wow you look great - MichaelAnn, you should do what he is doing" Um, duh, I was.) Well sure enough it slowed down for him - and I caught up. WAY up. I flew past him and ended up losing 70 - he never made it past 50lbs. And now, despite still eating 100% SBD at home and weekends, he has gained back about 25lbs where as I have maintained.

So I say let them have their big numbers the first few weeks/months. Fine with me. I've got dh beat with the long-term success.
