What are some good things to keep on hand? I don't live close to a grocery store and do not have a car (live in nyc but outside of manhattan) so i mainly order groceries online. the selection is not great and i often find that I don't really order enough for meals because i have no idea what to get. then we just end up ordering out because I haven't gotten enough groceries to make anything.

TIA

Great question! Assuming you can get out to buy fresh veggies/fruits when you need them, I'll leave them off the list. But here's a somewhat extensive

Hi,

I think it's a good idea to make up a meal plan with a rough idea of what you'll eat for the week.

Wow! Thanks for that! Very helpful indeed! I just hate to meal plan. I think that is where I fall down the most. But this is great. Thanks for taking the time to type it all out!

I used to use Peapod, but I always had a hard time finding what I wanted. Not to mention that I had a hard time making the minimum order since I live alone and would rarely cook. Using Peapod would force more a meal planning on me as well. I might switch back to doing that for at least the staples and the heavy items, and I'll probably end up using it more often during the winter when I'm really swamped at work.
