My doctor made me sad

I had a doctor's appointment today and he was not happy when I got on the scale.  He told me I was at the highest he's seen.  Duh, don't think I need him to tell me that.  I told him I was following SB and he said "don't just follow it, do it"  I have to go for a chest xray and bloodwork then back to see him.  He wants to see a couple of pounds gone by then.  Just what I need, pressure.  I could've left there and went to buy a bag of candy but I came home and had a good dinner.  I know he's right and I would feel better if I lose this weight and that's what I am trying to do but I just didn't like his attitude.

Just venting.........Molly

Maybe your doc is just direct and that can feel unemotional when we are emotional about something. he may be coming from seeing a lot of illness due to overweight. Feeling angry at him will make you want to eat more, it is ourselves we really are angry at.

When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change. Think about what YOU want and go for it. Be good to yourself and maybe he was a good omen. I never had any more trouble with menopause re weight. For me is it about exercise, what i put in my mouth and how much. Hugs, Leila

Hi Molly,

I agree that showing him that you are following South Beach strictly as well as getting in exercise when you can will be helpful.

well, I totally disagree with his advice to "cut out carbs". But the go for a walk was nice. Fresh air can be really... well refreshing!!!

The low carb thing really sticks in my craw, lol - I have a friend who moved away and IM'd me the other day to say that she and her DH have really jumped on the SB band wagon and even did phase one. And I asked and phase 2 how is that going?

She said, oh, well after phase one we've just been doing no carbs and it's going well.

I was irritated, lol. That's not the South Beach diet!
