I have a question about butter. I'm on meds that normally bring up cholesterol levels, but my blood work is consistently great. The last time the doctor told me that I could have a double cheeseburger which I didn't take literally, but the point is that I'm better than fine. I notice that the recipes have butter substitutes...is that for weight loss or for health? My dad had high blood pressure so we cut back on fats and salt in a serious way and that's how I learned to cook, steaming things, using herbs and wine for flavor, using sprays to wet the non stick pans...but butter has an irreplaceable taste. I don't need it or want it on a regular basis, but I'm curious as to the whys on SB.

It's for both weight loss and health.

SBD isn't a low-fat way of eating, per se,

I use small amounts of real butter as a personal choice. I'd rather have a bit of saturated fat than the chemical laden margarine.
