I Don't Understand This

For many many years my husband and I have been able to eat ANYTHING without feeling sick afterwards. Now it seems that when we both have something that is not SB legal, we both end up sick. I tend to get seriously sick almost as if I have the flu (I'll leave it at that). My husbands reaction isn't quite as severe as mine, his is more of an upset tummy. These are the very same foods that we have eaten for years. Does eating the SB way change your whole system or something? It's almost seems as if we are allergic to the bad stuff now! Once we start eating healthy the next day, we both start feeling better again. Any ideas what is going on with our bodies?

This sometimes happens to me too, particularly if I indulge in something fried.

This happens to most of us. It is one of the huge reasons I am not really tempted by a lot of foods - its just not worth spending 24 hours in the bathroom to eat a piece of cake or something.

Basically I look at it this way - when you ate that stuff ALL the time, your body was used to it. It kind of built up an "immunity" to it. Now that your body is "clean" and used to running on healthy foods, it freaks out when its not given the proper fuel. I think of a really dirty floor - one more spot isn't really noticeable. But when its clean and shining, even a tiny speck stands out.

Me too -- one of my favorite meals was to go out for fish-n-chips on a Friday night.

Different things affect me differently. For example, simply having the white flour crust of pizza doesn't make me sick. While its not "healthy" food - its not like eating something like donuts or a candy bar. That is where I get violently ill - things with TONS of sugar, very high in fat, fried/greasy, or lots of artificial stuff. Just having one piece of french bread at a restaurant or something like a regular baked potato or corn tortilla doesn't make me sick. I can have one slice of regular pizza as a rare treat with no adverse effects.

I kind of feel like there are "levels" to the junk.
