How long did it take you to get into the habit of not eating until you are full without thinking about it?

When you were finally in the habit of not eating until full, is that when you started feeling sick when you see loads of food or has it always been that way for you?

I am using you as an example everytime I sit down for a meal now. I am trying to do what you do. I am trying to eat just until I feel satisfied, not full. But, I really still have to think about it and pay close attention to how I feel. I would really like to get to the point where it becomes second nature.

You're right about the portion sizes that can feed a family.

Yes, that was how we determined if a restaurant was good or not was by the portion sizes. We have done that for years. Your right, I do know what I need to do.

This is an interesting post. I grew up in a house obsessed with food. My dad would finish lunch and ask what there was for dinner. I was taught to ignore that full feeling and finish my plate. I can keep up and even outeat my 6'2" husband- embarrassing! The first week on SB I was ravenous and my friend said to eat if I was hungry and I did and lost five pounds. Since then I've lost four pounds so I've actually gained a pound. I realize that I'm eating too much and I have to cut back on that emotional binging. Plus, I'm a cheese and cracker girl and I can have cookies and ice cream in the house without a problem, but I find that I have a serious sweet tooth right now. I actually look forward to having dessert even though jello and fudgicicles are not my favorite foods.
