I am Julina and am so ready to try SBD. This is my story.... I lost about 70 pounds about 5 years ago with Atkins but after I got pregnant and had my daughter who is now three I gained it all back. I have tried to get back to it on and off, in January I started it again and lost 17 pounds, but I got so tired of eating bacon and eggs every day, I ate other things and used a lot of the Atkins recipes but I think I need to switch to SBD because the little that I know about it, it just sounds healthier. I am down to my last resource and really trying to avoid doing the gastric bypass. I have about a 100 pounds to lose and I am going to try to take it one day at a time. I have a beautiful family and I want to be there for them....

I need to learn more about the diet before I start and wanted to know it you all can point me to the right resources. I went to the SBD site but as far as I can see you have to pay to get in. Is there any other sites that you can recommend that will tell me how to do the diet and give me some good recipes?

TIA

Julina

Hi Julina,
Just wanted to welcome you to the Beach! I'm one of those former Atkins losers who did great but then had children and gained it back. Somehow I never felt like Atkins was a healthy way to lose weight -- effective, yes, but not healthy or doable for the long term. So I started on Phase 2 and had good success. I've found South Beach to just make much more sense, both for me and my family. You can't have kids and not eat carbs, LOL. :-) So, welcome, good luck, and know that there's lots of fabulous support and information from the members of this board. Joy and Cathy are fantastic leaders and lots of "regulars" are here for additional advice.

Cheers!!
