AUGH - I'm so frustrated...

I am taking a new medication - Lyrica. One of the side effects is weight gain. I usually ignore those warnings and say people just use that as an excuse. However, I've been on the meds for a week, eaten pretty clean, and I'm up a few pounds. The most noticible thing is that my hands are so puffy that I cannot get my rings off. So, my question is: is it even possible to lose weight while on such a medication? I guess I thought if I monitored my eating/cravings/snacking that I would be able to beat the pills, but I'm experiencing otherwise. Is there anything I can do to counter the effects of the meds? This is potentially a long-term medication for me, so I need to know if I can still be successful on SB with the medication. I just want to stop them all together, but then I live in pain.
Okay - that is my rant for now.
Thanks!!

How frustrating!
It could be that once your body adjusts to it, you may be able to lose the weight/puffiness you have gained from taking it.
Hi Michelle,
I think you need to talk with your doctor about the rapid weight gain.
Hey Michelle,
I'm not familiar with this medication, but I am all too familiar with taking medications that have adverse side effects, one of which is to 'bulk you up'. Having said that, I wish I had more advice. I think the best thing for you to do is what you have been doing. Be extra diligent about your eating/exercise. As others have said, I think you should contact your dr about the swelling. Have you asked about other alternatives with lesser side effects??? Make sure your dr is aware of your diet and that you are trying to lose weight. I know that I have been talking to my dr about my weight loss for the last several visits and she already knows that I am not likely to go along with any new medications that have side effects of weight gain. Surely there is something else your dr can prescribe???
