Help me please!!

Ok, I've been on vacation at home for the last week feeling totally sorry for myself. I've gained about 15 pounds since the beginning of the year. Mostly from eating convenience foods (ie; drive thrus) and sitting on my butt.
I don't want to take diet pills... ( more like hope and a prayer pills) and this south beach diet sounds amazing!
I guess my first question is 1- is the book necessary? 2- are there web sites that can detail what I can and cannot eat and guide me?
My clothes dont fit and I can't afford to buy new ones!! I have seriously been wearing sweat pants for the last two months and it's getting hot outside!!! Help me please!!

Hi,
Welcome!
I agree that its important to read the book to really understand not only WHAT to eat, but WHY. It also helps you understand the science behind it, plus the many, many benefits to your body other than weight loss. Dr. A. originally designed this plan NOT for weight loss, but for the health and recovery of his cardiac patients. So getting an insight into that is great motivation. You can find paperback versions of the book for under $5 at Walmart.
As for websites to guide you - well, THIS is the website that guided me through my 70lb weight loss journey! I have been here for 2.5 years and never needed any other resource. South Beach does have an official website, but there is a subscription fee. One of our cl's here is a member and brings us back all the important information, updates, recipes, answers to product questions, chat transcripts, etc.
Good luck and I hope you decide to join us!
