Non-perishable Lunch
5

I will be assisting my local rotary club tomorrow that will be sponsoring a car show.  I will be out in the 98 degree heat all day from 10-3ish!  I am planning on just bringing a back pack with me but will not have a place to keep a cooler.  I am beside myself on what I can bring for snacks and lunch that can handle the heat!  I am scared because they will have funnel cakes, cotton candy, hot dogs, and who knows what other kind on non SFB friendly food!

Please help me!  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!  I am currently in phase II week 5.  Thank you!

I would suggest Kashi or SBD bars; maybe a SBD "Tide Me Over" (their drink mix with fiber and protein that really does help fill you up); you can also slice veggies and put them in a baggie, and they will be fine; if you like V8 and can drink it warm, a can of that might also be good.

Cheese sticks are very packable and withstand the heat.

I would have a big breakfast, substantial snack right before you leave the house, then bring a cereal bar, crackers or pretzels, and maybe some fruit or nuts. Then you could plan on having your "real" lunch after you leave.

I had school from 10am-2pm every day last semester, straight through lunch. I did it that way and it worked out really well. I just ended up not needing to have a snack between lunch and dinner since they were so close.

Also - you could put a soft/insulated lunch bag in your backpack w/a couple of those blue reusable ice packs. Then you could pack any type of sandwich you'd like. I keep mine in the car a lot when its in the 90's, and we also bring a soft insulated bag w/ice packs to the pool most days. It stays cold for 2-3 hours easily, so if you pack right before you leave, it'll still be cold @ noon.
