Hi there,
I've been lurking since I started phase 1 almost 4 weeks ago. I was on the beach about 5 years ago and now I'm back to lose this baby weight. I've lost 9 lbs so far and am going along fine (sometimes I slip, but its minor and I get back on track) in phase 2 but I think I mix up in my head what's legal and not. I have the list posted below but I was wondering if its worth getting the new edition of the book. Would that help at all?

I browsed the new book after borrowing it through the library, and I agree that you don't need it.

I haven't looked at the new book, but the original book was more about the philosophy and science behind the concept of the diet. It didn't give a lot of details about the "nuts and bolts" of the plan (serving sizes, guidelines for products, etc.) Most of that has always come from the SBD website. We have all that info here. This board has been my # source for info for 3.5 years now. While I did read the original book and I appreciate know they HOW and WHY South Beach works like it does, this board was actually gave me the real tools and resources I needed to succeed!
