Sweeteners

Well I am well into the SBD book now and quite impressed.  May actually be able to start my phase 1 tomorrow.  Question is, can I use stevia instead of artificial sweeteners or is that too close to actual sugar??  Would anyone care to give me some input before I start out incorrectly?

Look forward to chatting with you bunch of hard working SBD'ers.

I really love it with chopped mixed nuts mixed into Greek yogurt.

I finally bought some too - I tried using it in a BBQ sauce I wanted to make (that called for honey) I still ended up using A LOT - probably 5T - so over 300 calories worth. We were using it as a dip, between the four of us we ate the whole batch, so about 80 calories each I would say? Just wasn't worth it, it would have been fine with Splenda and saved 300 calories. I also tried it in yogurt, I needed a full T for it to taste sweet enough, again, not worth the extra 60 calories and 16g sugar when I can use splenda for none. And I am NOT a calorie counting kind of girl - as you all know. But even for me, those extra calories just didn't seem "worth" it.

I avoid alll the calories by just using a teaspoon or two of the agave nectar and still adding splenda.

Ah ha! Now that would work really well I bet! I loved the flavor it gave the sauce (we were going for a honey-mustard BBQ sauce flavor) I bet I could have used half as much and added some splenda too. Duh!
